Not I, Said the Duck |

Uhhh... oh.
Well... can't say I'm shocked by this. But I'm more disappointed than I would have expected. It was like Brady's winning streak in the post season. I knew it had to end but I was still bummed when it did.
Whatever. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm sure Cooper and Wright have been stock-piling contingency plans for their baby since season seven. Now, I think Marcus might be sick. It's bumming me out. My coat smells like garbage.
I was in Starbucks today waiting for my laundry to wash and I asked for a slice of pumpkin loaf. The girl gave me a slice of banana loaf. I discovered this and asked her if I could get pumpkin instead. She said of course I could and then handed me another slice of banana loaf.
I did eventually get what I wanted but it seemed unnecessarily complicated. I also overheard the following conversation: Girl #1: "So, I was, like, out of the country for three weeks and when I got back I was transferred here, but I was like, not supposed to say anything to anyone about anything, you know? I wasn't supposed to, like, talk about it." Girl #2: (deadpan) "Are you a Mata Hari?" Girl #1: "Huh? What's that mean?" Girl#2: (cries a little) I am never going to Starbucks again. Life is a matrix of practicality... ya wanker.
I've been watching Due South all day...
Canadians have a wacked out sense of humor. I bought new saucepans today after destroying the one we already had and nearly burning down the house in the process. (I'm exaggerating... a little). Sometimes my own flakiness scares even me. But, now we have two shiny new saucepans. And I bought chicken while I was out. Then Clytie's cat urinated on her hockey equipment and things almost got very ugly. Clearly, my day off has been well spent. :) Rock the casbah. Rock it.
So... I arrived at work today, walked into the unit and my glasses immediately fogged up and I found it difficult to breathe. Moments later I realized this was because it was 96 degrees outside and the hospital's air conditioning had crapped out. I almost turned around and walked out. The best part was that, the maintenance staff had just mopped the entire hospital, including CCU, just before the AC went and so the floors never dried, they just made the air that much more humid. I was convinced that any moment it would start raining indoors.
Anyway, they did eventually get the air back on but it was still a miserable night and we had animals being transferred into CCU with heatstroke just from sitting in the wards! Sometimes I hate my job. On a brighter note, it was a real treat to see one of the big wig staff doctors cleaning dirty cages for us. It made me smile. |
