Not I, Said the Duck
Thanksgiving? What's that?

I am more than a little irritated with the way my employers handle holidays. There's not a whole lot I can do about it at this point but it just seems like I shouldn't have to put up with so much crap just to spend one holiday with my family. It's bad enough I had to work on Thanksgiving. In addition, I have to work on Christmas Eve, then have Christmas day off, then drive back down here to work on Monday and then have Tuesday off. And this is the situation for half my shift. It's freakin ridiculous.

Hey, this is cool.

Two interesting side effects of the common cold: impulse internet shopping and the revival of my Doonesbury habit

I tried to go into work yesterday. I haven't been "out sick" three days in a row since I was on chemo so on principle I decided I had to try. And I *was* feeling a little better. But, in hind sight, I guess it was a bad idea. My roommates told me I was a freaking moron for going in the first place and when I got to work the general consensus among my co-workers was that I sounded like shit. I think my voice freaked them out. So I stayed until 7 to cover everyone's dinner and then my supervisor sent me home. I felt like kind of a loser but I really wasn't at all functional.

At least now I have the weekend to rest. I hate to do it but I may have to invest in NyQuil and put myself in a drug induced coma for the next two days in order to kick this stupid cold. It's kind of a bummer cuz I really wanted to come out of my cave and see my friends this weekend but I don't think that's realistic.

Some say Cary Grant had poor posture.

I called out sick today. I should have called out sick yesterday but didn't. People probably wished I had. Especially that doctor I verbally attacked.

By the way, I can't speak. Not really anyway. So I'm letting all my phone calls go to voicemail. If it's not an emergency I'll get back to you when I have my voice back. :)

We're in the men's room.... do the chicken dance!

I had fun tonight. I didn't really want to go out... but I did. It was cool.

Yeah... I'm going to bed now. Footloose is a great song.

I forgot... Francie doesn't like coffee ice cream.

There were like... fifteen animals in all of CCU tonight. This is... good... sorta. It means we don't have a whole lotta work to do, but it also means that we get to stand around the unit shooting the breeze and performing unsanctioned medical procedures on beanie babies. Tonight we covered the topics of: bird flu, sodomy, the zombie apocaplyse, the real estate market, Katie Holmes' "silent birth", mullets and other unfortunate hairstyles, and jet lag.

And we gave Spanky, CCU's beanie baby mascot, a urinary catheter. His feeding tube will be replaced tomorrow.

I love my job.
