Them purple wobblies are wobblin'
Dolemite don't need no posse!
I am hungover. I stopped drinking at 9pm Saturday night and I am STILL hungover.
I'm an idiot. Had a fun weekend, though. :) All hail the cupcakes.
So tonight kinda sucked. At any given time during my shift I generally found myself having one of the three following conversations:
1) Doctor: Hey, has that cat looked that crappy all day? ME: Yes. Doctor: Oh... good. Just checking. (walks away) 2) Doctor: Dude, that dog is a mess! ME: I know some idiot intern thought he could force feed him charcoal by himself and now I have to clean up the mess. Doctor: Sucks to be you. (walks away) 3) Doctor: Hey can you do this incredibly complicated thing for me right now? ME: Uh... well... Doctor: Thanks. Page me with the results. (walks away) ME: I hate you. Are you sensing the pattern yet? I'll be forced to reveal that you are my dark and troubled chums
So, apparently it IS me. Clearly, the Patriots are incapable of winning unless I am dutifully watching them. Unfortunately, they have a bye next week when I might actually be available to watch the game. I worry about their next game against Buffalo.
Anyway. I'm starting to seriously think about Christmas shopping. For the first time in.... well, ever... I am gainfully employed and financially independent AND have enough money saved to actually buy my family Christmas presents. I'm kind of looking forward to it, in fact, which is another first. So, any and all suggestions are welcome. And people who don't tell me what they want will be getting a kitten. Heh, heh. Addendum
Okay... so I thought my previous entry was going to suffice for tonight but... I just had a bizarre conversation with Kali (yes, it really is 3am) which I will now attempt to translate here:
ME: (answering my cell at 3am) Hello? (long pause) Kali: (slurred, sleepy voice) Hey.... ME: Kali? It's after 3. Kali: Yeah... sorry to wake you up... ME: You didn't, I was awake... but still... Kali: (incomprehensible muttering) ME: Huh? (very long pause) Kali: Wait... are you really awake? I was gonna leave a message. ME: Yeah, I'm really awake. What's the message? Kali: (giggles) I can't leave a message with your voice... ME: (baffled) Were you calling for a reason? Kali: (mutter mutter) ... my recent calls... i talked to you earlier... ME: (dumbfounded silence) Kali: (conversational, slurred) Whatcha doin? Why are you awake? ME: Uhh... well... Kali: (starts babbling incomprehensibly about her evening which I could barely follow)... Jager! ME: I think you need to go to bed. Kali: Yeah... And so forth. This is the "edited for content" version of the conversation. We actually spent a good ten minutes on the phone (though half of that time consisted of periods of dead silence when I was sure Kali had fallen asleep in mid-sentence) but most of it doesn't really need repeating. My brain can't really handle this kind of stimulation so late at night. I'm going to bed now. You can't let the machine win.
I bumped my head on a vending machine tonight. It sucked.
It's cold in my apartment... and in my workplace. It's damp everywhere. My cat has started cuddling with my roommate. And now I'm harboring this weird fear that if I violate some minor traffic law Toby Keith is going to come after me with his posse and hang me from a tree. It could happen. Hey, Season 8 of Stargate on DVD arrived today. I will watch it in the morning. It's my day off. :) Beware of cat: it lunges, bites and has small parts that children may choke on
Well... I *was* bummed that I didn't get to see the Patriots game today... but now I'm kinda glad I missed it.
Anyway. Work was good tonight... didn't have too many animals... and one of them was actually a beanie baby so it didn't really count. Now I'm eating ice cream. :) Hey, let's steal that guy's keg.
Had a nice day off yesterday... it started at 8:30 in the morning when Elise called me to ask for a ride to work because the T wasn't running. Have I mentioned lately that Mass transit sucks? Anyway, it was kinda good because it got me up and I went to the store while I was out because I had no food at the house. After that I sat around on my ass for the rest of the day writing and watching TV and eating muffins. I thought about going by myself to see the new Firefly movie but then decided that would be too much effort. Instead I stayed home and watched random episodes of Firefly and the movie Shoot to Kill starring Tom Berenger and Sidney Poitier which is still a kick-ass movie, I don't care what anyone says.
Oh, and I watched the last half of the Red Sox game. Some people may find this a rather sad picture that I just painted here. But if you ask me the day was pretty near perfect. :) |
