Not I, Said the Duck
Why can't I work here?

Tonight I had the following conversation with a person from Client Services:

Dumb Girl: Why does the cat in 12 have an e-collar on?
Me: Because he's evil.
Dumb Girl: Oh. So can we take it off? His owner doesn't like it.
Me: No...he's EVIL.
Dumb Girl: Oh.

That's the gist of it anyway. To truly get the effect of how I felt during this little exchange, imagine someone asking you why you don't want to stick your hand in a food processor and then subsequently asking you to do it anyway.

I came close to throwing things tonight. Instead I sang Guns 'n' Roses songs.

Hallowed are the Penguins.

I have a couple things to comment on at this time. Firstly, I'd like to congratulate the Pats for... not losing. And I'd like to give Phil Simms a virtual smack upside the head.... just because. Secondly, I want to shout a somewhat belated WTF!?!?!? in regards to all this malarky from the religious conservatives about "March of the Penguins" being some holy testament to monogamy and family values and creationism. I realize this topic has already been discussed at length by numerous parties but come on! As someone with a more than passing interest in evolutionary biology... I AM OFFENDED!!!!

Okay, I won't go on. You all understand where I'm coming from I hope.

Thirdly, I saw a cool mini-series today on the Sundance Channel, called "Slings and Arrows" (I'd link to its IMDB page but I'm too lazy). It was a little cliche but the acting was delightful and it's a Canadian production so the humor is... you know... odd. BUt it has pretty much everything you could want... romance, angst, swordfights, conspiracy... lots of Shakespeare, ghosts, frothing ministers, a couple of old, gay Australian thespians faintly reminiscent of Statler and Waldorf.... a chameleon...

It's the animals that win me over every time. Oh, and Paul Gross plays an excellent madman.

Nooo! Not the hat!!!!

Well, I had a wonderful time in Florida. We did pretty everything you would want to do when visiting Tampa... we went to Busch Gardens (twice), we saw a Buccaneers game, we ate lots of sea food, we rented jet skis, we saw the Devil Rays host the Red Sox and we saw the Salvador Dali museum. It was pretty awesome.

My favorite part by far... the football game. Although, the jet skis run a close second. Even though we were sitting in the upper deck when it was close to 100 degrees in the stadium... it was pretty freakin amazing.

Basically, it was perfect. And I only got a very tiny sunburn.

Now, I'm home and I, thankfully, don't have to work today so my plans are to lounge around, unpack and clean up at my leisure and play with my cat. A perfect ending to a perfect vacation.

Too bad the Patriots lost.

I'm on vacation, baby!

Finally. We're flying down to Tampa this afternoon, and I am beyond excited to be away from work until Thursday. I will be sure to post the highlights upon my return. :) Adios.

Sometimes I pretend it's gasoline...

Oh god, my supervisor needs to be set on fire. That's it. That's the only solution.

I'm so glad I start my vacation on Thursday. A whole week off, baby. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be devoured by an alligator in Florida and won't be able to come back to work. Even if I just lost a limb or something...

I need a vacation.

Well, I was stuck on the tenth level of hell last night, also known as my workplace, and had to miss the Patriots game.

However, I was a big dork and recorded it. So that's what I did all morning today instead of... you know... sleeping. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, even with Bruschi on the sidelines and John Madden babbling incomprehensibly. It's not that he doesn't know what he's talking about... it's the mechanics of the English language that seem to escape him...

Although, I did appreciate him subtly acknowledging his error back in 2001 when he criticized Belichick's decision to drive downfield in the 4th quarter instead of taking a knee and going into overtime.

And, of course, I never get tired of seeing Troy Brown in the game.

Anyway, I gotta go get my ass kicked at work again. At least I get paid today.

Crap. I hear pigeons.

I'm verrrrry sleepy. Very. I got almost no sleep last night before meeting up with Elise and her mom in Boston at 10am-ish. I spent most of last night getting caught up on the 5th and last season of "Queer As Folk". It kinda bums me out that it's over but this season was really good. One episode in particular pushed me to my breaking point and I actually burst into tears spontaneously at four in the morning. It was masterfully done in many respects.

So anyway, now I'm exhausted and I'm being a bum and letting my roommates cook me dinner. :) I'll help with the clean up.

Tebuckey is STILL cutting edge!!!

There was a cat on my side tonight named Tebuckey. He had a urinary obstruction. I think I freaked a few people out when I got all excited. Oh well.

What else weird happened tonight? The dayshift supervisor stuck a "kick me" sign on my back at the start of my shift. My own supervisor confessed to being high on cold medicine. My patient's owner threatened to sue the hospital because we wouldn't let her visit her cat for a full hour after visiting hours were over. Somehow three different people (including myself) got the song "I Touch Myself" stuck in their heads. Oh yeah, and everyone managed to take their full breaks (definitely the weirdest occurrence of all).

I'm so glad I have tomorrow off.
